BSNL Broadband to offer 2 Mbps connection

This is The Future

The great news for all the BSNL BroadBand Customers is that its going to offer high speed internet broadband connectivity to its subscribers. According to The Hindu Report, BSNL Telecom Service which is offering a maximum of 256 kbps internet connectivity to its subscribers will offer upto 2mbps connectivity.

Mr.Maran has announced this at the India Telecom 2006 conference. The main bit is that BSNL would offer high speed broadband at the existing price.

Transforming the telecom connectivity into a network to provide seamless access between the knowledge creators/converters and knowledge consumers.
 – A. P. J Abdul Kalam at India Telecom 2006 Conference.

I personally feel that this great upgrade is silently impacting the Vision 2020 of India. Maybe people who are using 256kbps connection already enjoyed downloading movies, games and other stuffs although they have some download limit but using the no count timings.

This upgrade will surely influence other Internet Service providers in India and hurray i think my service provider will do something to compete BSNL. But recently a French telecom and internet service provider decided to provide 2GB per second connectivity to all its customers.

Anyways this was just a great news for users like us,now the chance of exploring Internet has widenup and surely webmasters like me love to see traffic in our site.

      Lol, its 2017 and still 2mbps @ RS 799.

  8. 5-6 years is much wider and some sources said that bsnl began offering 2mbps in Mumbai and Delhi it seems, reported that they can a 300kbps download speed and 256 kbps upload speed with bandwidth speed of 2000kbps

  9. Wow.. Good to know. Then I think it may not take any longer. BTW at this speed we could download a CD in just about a hour.

    Cool

  10. dont think this will happen in recent future

i dont see any diffrence in the time at which the websites loadup

  17. hey this thing which says wherever feasible makes me sad as i guess my area comes in that category…………

  18. they did it ..but not for home 900 i always exceeded my limit when i was using 500 line….good thing i changed it….an 8fold increase in bandwidh to a 2fold increase in download limit that sucks!!!!! …..any kind of limit sucks

    Guys,

I stay in Koramangala, tel 25527936, bandwidth has not upgraded from 256Kbps to 2Mbps. I have D-Link GLB-502T with Netgear. Is someone getting 2Mbps from koramangala exchange? Also, do I need to change some setting on ADSL modem?

    Darshan

  22. actually there wont be any difference in browsing but to confirm that you have upgraded try downloading a file more than 90mb and check the download time… it will reliably be faster..

you don’t have to change u r adsl modem in this case.. if you cannot experience the download speed change then its due that your location koramangala in bangalore will be updated soon…

  28. Hi,

Is this going to apply for the existing unlimited plans(like UL 750)?

  29. surrealvortex avatar

    @ 26. PRASANNA KUMAR

    Step 1:
IP address as 192.168.1.2 will not work on some of the routers that have USB connectivity in addition to ethernet.
Use something like 192.168.1.20 for better compatibility.

    Step 2:
The DMZ is to be used only for web servers and stuff. It completely overrides any security that NAT provides.

    Step 3:
Same as above. Allowing incoming connections to port 8080 directly is a bad idea.

    Step 4:
Setting 2000 max connections per torrent will increase overhead considerably and thus decrease speed. Use the calculator:
